Furniture Care

How to care four your beautiful furniture

The Characteristic Beauty of Wood
Wood is by nature hygroscopic; meaning that the wood will adjust its own moisture content to the relative humidity within its environment. Wood is in a constant state of dimensional change. When wood absorbs moisture, it swells (for example: sticky drawers), and when it gives off moisture, it shrinks, often causing cracking and splitting. Therefore it is important to keep wood furniture (especially solid wood furniture) at a constant level of humidity year round.

Solid Wood Care.
•Do not place your furniture in direct sunlight and or in a damp area.
•Try to arrange your furniture so it is not placed near heating or air conditioning vents.
•Wipe spills promptly. Water left over a prolonged period of time will cause white spots in the finish. They can be removed, but it may have to be done professionally and prove costly.
•Dust frequently with a clean, dry, lint free cloth.
•To remove accumulated dust or furniture wax build up use a soft cloth dampened in a solution of mild detergent and warm water. Dry thoroughly using a clean cloth and then apply furniture polish wiping it in the direction of the wood grain.
•We recommend that furniture be wax polished every six months.
•Please remember a little maintenance will keep your furniture beautiful for many years to come!
